CWHL Weekend Preview: Montreal Stars @ Boston Blades, Brampton Thunder @ Toronto Furies, and a VIEWING PARTY!

We’ve got a short slate this weekend, with Montreal traveling to Boston, and Brampton going cross-town to play Toronto.

Montreal Stars @ Boston Blades

  • Saturday, January 24th 6:30 PM CDT @ Choate Rosemary (note the different arena if you’re going!)

These two are neck and neck in the standings right now, both with 17 points in 14 games. These two teams have played each other only once yet this season in the season opener, with with the other two scheduled matches lost to the labor dispute that happened earlier this season. Should be interesting, especially as Boston has outscored Montreal 53 – 32, but Montreal has allowed two less goals. (Boston won their first encounter 2-0 FYI)

Brampton Thunder @ Toronto Furies

  • Saturday, January 24th 6:30 PM CDT Game is Streamed!

No, that’s not a typo– these games are at exactly the same time. 🙂 Toronto has been more than a bit streaky this season, while Brampton has been far and away leading in PIMs and rough play. This game will be streamed– don’t forget to tune in!

Other Things of Note:

  • Erika (@Philosophy_Of_E) is going to be running an Online Viewing Party this weekend! First, on Friday (Jan. 23rd, TODAY) she’ll be showing last year’s Clarkson Cup Final between Boston and Toronto. On Saturday, it will be the live stream of the Brampton @ Toronto game. Both will have live chats available. Check out the website for the event!

  • This weekend’s games will be the first since Monique Lamoureux and Jamie Lee Rattray had their little bout of fisticuffs last weekend– if a suspension has been given, we’ll expect to see such noted on the game sheets for Boston and Brampton.
  • Our website may be down briefly this evening, as we are upgrading some things. Bear with us!
